Bringing you an upbeat rootsy form of the truth -- sans-shoes, of course -- these friends from Mystic are one of the most exciting bands out there, especially for fans of Dispatch, moe., Umphrey’s McGee and Sublime. They quickly exploded in 2007, starting at colleges and then playing festivals like FloydFest, 10,000 Lakes Festival and Summerfest. They even wrote the score for the movie Nature Propelled. Barefoot Truth’s viral grassroots following got some juice from MTV, Top 40 FM radio stations, Pandora and other web-based paths, a tour with Pete Francis and iTunes.
But behind all the social networking, it’s all love for their earth-conscious message, their original folk sound and some seriously soulful vocals. On their most recent album, Carry Us On, they present a variety of sounds beyond their rootsy vibe, sporadically blending bits of rock, jazz, funk and blues.
Their lead singer plays the drums, they switch instruments mid-show and allow the songs to evolve over the course of the tour. While they’re mainly a folk rock band, don’t be shocked if there’s reggae, an occasional didgeridoo or some upright bass.
“The quintet bring socially conscious lyrics, an embracement of a ‘universal consciousness’ and a deep desire to change the world through righteous string-heavy tunes.” – The Washington Post
“… A band with limitless potential.” – SputnikMusic.com
